Wrexham's Stephen Wright, who wore Davids' elbow on his face while trying to wrestle the ball from the former Juventus and Barcelona star, was also shown a red card in the same altercation on the edge of the Barnet penalty area.
Once the dust had settled, Dean Keates then scored from the resulting free-kick to make it 1-1 with an impressive curling effort over the wall to cancel out Anthony Acheampong's seventh minute strike.
The
drama wasn't over yet as Wrexham's Johnny Hunt came in with a flying
challenge on Curtis Weston and was shown a straight red.
England
C player Hunt showed remorse immediately after the game for the tackle
which caused a suspected broken leg, tweeting: 'I would like to
apologise for the
tackle I am not that type of player or I did not intend to hurt the lad
it was just a miss timed tackle.'
Number one: Barnet's Edgar Davids (above) was sent off for elbowing Wrexham's Stephen Wright (below)
Slow it down: Davids picked up the ball after a free-kick was given on the edge of the Barnet penalty area
Give it back: Players from both sides clashed as Wrexham tried to get the ball back
Own hands: Wright decided enough was enough and charged in to relieve Davids of the ball
Ouch: As David wrestles Wright away, his elbow appears to connect with the No 2's face
Melee: With Wright on the ground, players push and shove to try and sort things out for themselves
You're off: Eventually, the referee Nick Kinseley gives Davids his marching orders
So are you: Kinseley then sends Wright and his bloodied mouth off
Together again: Perhaps unwisely, Davids and Wright are sent down the same tunnel
